Solana set a new throughput record this week, processing more than 100,000 transactions per second as decentralized finance activity on the network exploded.
The surge was driven by a wave of new DeFi protocols launching on Solana, attracted by its low fees and fast finality. Total value locked on the chain climbed to a new all-time high.
Network stability has improved markedly since earlier outages, with validators reporting 99.9% uptime over the past quarter. "The infrastructure has matured," a Solana Foundation engineer said.
Critics continue to raise concerns about centralization, but supporters argue the trade-off is acceptable for the performance gains delivered to users.
